In the fall of 2009, Ann Murguia, ANDA’s Executive Director, learned of an elderly widower living in Argentine whose furnace would not heat his home properly.  Ann sought the assistance of a home builder who checked the furnace. He noted a problem with the flame and advised that the gas company should be contacted. He also noted that the gas meter was very old and needed to be replaced.  The gas company was called and they replaced the meter which improved the furnace’s flame.

    An ANDA employee spoke with the elderly widower several weeks later and learned that the furnace was not heating properly.  The employee took an ECAN Weatherization application to his home and helped him complete them.  He has been notified that he is on their waiting list for the Weatherization personnel to come and investigate the problem at his home.
